A buyer job in Preston paying £30,000 + package for a civil engineering contractor.
Your new company
You will join a growing civil engineering contractor based in Preston who have grown from strength to strength over the past 10 years. They focus on utilities, electricity and gas schemes across the UK working as a main and sub-contractor depending on the contract. They have a 5-year business plan which will see them move from a small to medium contractor. Having visited their offices, they offer a modern working environment and an excellent team. Due to company growth they are making the appointment of a buyer to join their business.
Your new role
You will report to their commercial manager and will take on the sole role as company buyer for both material and plant. You will place all orders and work alongside the site foreman on site and ensure all their materials / plant arrive on schedule. You will build relationships with suppliers and agree set rates / deals. You will assist the commercial team and work alongside the office staff. You will bring new ideas to the business and they are keen for you to implement systems / new processes if required.
What you'll need to succeed
You will currently be working as an assistant buyer / buyer for a construction or civil engineering contractor. You will be looking to take on a new challenge and work for a growing business where they will offer you career progression and development as the business continues to grow. They are focused on ensuring the profits of the business continue to grow rather than solely focusing on turnover. You will be given autonomy to manage your own time and work with an enthusiastic team.
What you'll get in return
You will be offered a salary of £30,000 + car package + benefits (negotiable dependant on experience). You will receive training and support from the management team. You will be offered career progression and your role will develop into a bigger position over time.
