What the day will look like
  • Design and implementation of an effective Target Operating Model
  • Leadership of operations and IT functions within the BU
  • Provide a meaningful contribution to the AUM Executive Committee, including on strategy development and implementation
  • Ensure identified and approved change projects are delivered appropriately
  • Sponsor and drive the delivery of digital initiatives, ensuring profitable high-quality technology enabled insurance product solutions are created within AUM
  • Be responsible for the development of an effective MI suite and reporting suite to carriers/regulators
  • Be responsible for the ongoing development and execution of appropriate compliance and risk frameworks/controls
  • Review and update the businesses credit control and fiduciary processes
  • Identify strategies to drive efficiency, improve margin and resource utilisation across the business
  • Ensure clear location and utilisation plans are in place and future needs considered and communicated. Create a forum to capture colleague feedback for potential working environment improvements
  • Devise and where approved implement initiatives to reduce expense
  • Ensure an effective business continuity plan is in place across locations
  • Manage unforeseen operational issues and events effectively and within a timely fashion to reduce risk e.g. investigations, control failures
  • Ensure that processes, procedures and measures are in place for monitoring and maintaining standards of business conduct consistent with the legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for working in accordance with the FCA Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK and corporate policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • A self-starter who is comfortable with defining and delivering outcomes in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong understanding and experience of change management principles and approaches
  • A strong analytical curiosity with a desire to improve business outcomes
  • Ability to identify, construct and present cost benefit analyses to enable effective decision making
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to communicate well across organisational levels

  • Good understanding of the Insurance Industry, ideally underwriting operations and/or MGAs
  • Strong track record in change management and operational improvement or process re-engineering
  • A track record of operating successfully in a regulated environment and with a good understanding of risk management, legal and compliance issues
  • Experience of introducing new systems and new working practices into a business on time and on budget
  • Proven record of creating value for clients with best solutions;
  • Acts on initiative when looking for new markets, demonstrating the ability to think laterally and to operate without the need for constant supervision;
  • Builds trusted relationships with clients and colleagues;
  • Proven record of designing client-centric service processes;
  • Fosters relationships that lead to client and business success;
