This is done with safe, reliable, smart and non-intrusive technologies that allow client assets to function with zero downtime for installations. Our solutions are innovative and span across Powerneeds in the Oil and Gas Renewables, Solar and other Power networks. The RoleIPEC are looking for an Engineer to carry out field site work, data analysis and technical report writing to support our product range. The successful candidate will be based at our main office in Stockport, Manchester but also provide support to System Maintenance, Installation and Commissioning as well as Training both in the UK and overseas.This is an exciting and varied role with potential for travel and professional development inan emerging technology area. The successful candidate will liaise directly with domestic and international clients, providing support and having autonomy to deliver reports and client support.Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Product Service
  • Delivery of customer Service Level Agreements
  • Monitoring System health checks and maintenance
  • On-site health checks, repairs and maintenance or upgrade work on PD monitors that
  • are installed in substations
  • PD Monitoring System Installation & commissioning
  • Install and commissioning of monitoring systems to IPEC standards, working with clients on installation requirements
  • Product Support
  • Support in delivering customer training to new and existing clients.
  • Analysis of field tests and monitoring system results and writing technical reports for clients.
  • Provide support to contracted customers in the delivery of Service Level Agreements and
  • requirements (Products, Systems & Services), specifically management of allocated Key
  • Accounts.
  • Occasional support to company Sales and Marketing by giving customer demonstrations.
  • Working with the IPEC Research and Development team to support new technology testing and trials.
General:
  • Expected up to 50% of time site-based, 50% office-based.
  • Ability to travel extensively in the UK, and globally.
  • The majority of on-site service work across the UK
  • New installations and training global, usually Middle East and Asia markets
  • Working Relationships
  • The Product Service and Support Engineer is part of the Services & Support Team and
  • reports directly to the Head of the Department.
  • Key internal working relationships will be with colleagues on the Services & Support Team,
  • Sales and Marketing Team and the Research & Development Team.
  • Key external relationships will be with IPEC clients within the UK and internationally, which
  • include the major Distribution Network Operators and large industrial organisations.
The Right PersonThis post would suit a resourceful, ambitious and committed engineer who is motivated by challenge and keen to develop their expertise in this highly specialised field of power engineering. The successful candidate will show good analytical and diagnostic skills, be confident in communicating test results directly with the client and be able to produce professional test reports. The post will be adapted to suit the right candidate - ability, aptitude and attitude are extremely important. As a guide, we would expect a suitable candidate to:
  • Hold a graduate Degree in Electrical engineering, other Engineering or related applied
  • sciences, STEM graduate
  • Have excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Be able to self-manage workload and work remotely for periods of time.
  • Be methodical, reliable and trustworthy. Be flexible and responsive in working patterns and hours, and comfortable working independently.
  • Be able to quickly assimilate into a team both internally within the organisation and in a
  • support role within client's teams.
  • Be a competent written and verbal communicator, willing and able to engage and communicate with a wide range of people externally and internally.
  • Have a strong sense of client relationships, customer services and support.
  • Demonstrate an ability to learn and an interest in developing a career in the Power Industry
  • with an option to specialise in Substations and Partial Discharge impacts on the systems.
  • Be willing and able to travel
  • Hold a full clean UK driving licence.
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Demonstrate an appreciation of the activities, purpose and ethos of IPEC.
