An opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager (Mechanical) within our Major Projects Team in Scotland.

As a Project Manager you will have a detailed understanding of gas transmission engineering disciplines and relevant project management experience. You will be responsible for full lifecycle delivery of projects, safely and within budget and programme constraints.

You will be part of a team working to successfully deliver gas infrastructure projects including transmission pipelines and above-ground installations.

What will you be doing day to day?

  • Leading a team of engineers and specialist consultants through the planning, design, procurement and installation stages of gas transmission projects.
  • Demonstrating high performance with regards to Safety, Engineering and Value for Money.
  • Applying effective project controls to ensure delivery of every project on time and on budget.
  • Efficient management of contractors and suppliers within contracts and framework agreements.
  • Managing all project related activities and key relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Implementing the SGN safety culture throughout the project lifecycle

What you'll need

  • Educated to degree or HND level in mechanical / civil engineering or a similar related discipline.
  • Construction and project management experience working on UK Gas distribution, transmission or Petro-Chemical networks.
  • Experience of leading projects from inception to commissioning and reacting to changing priorities in a challenging environment.
  • Previous experience at management/ supervisory level and effective influencing, coaching and communication skills whilst working with honesty and integrity at all times.
  • You will hold Professional Engineering Membership of an accredited professional body, or be working towards membership.
  • As this role will involve a significant amount of travel, you must have a valid driving licence and be willing to spend time away from your primary location.
