Our client has a new opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Wakefield. You will join on a full time, permanent basis and in return receive a competitive salary with pension and car allowance/company car.

Our client is one of the leading electrical contracting organisations in the UK. They provide expertise throughout the engineering contracting and utilities sectors. They competitively tender to carry out installation works from inception through to completion. They have a strong corporate identity and is a subsidiary of Northern Powergrid.

A Quantity Surveyor is required to control the commercial functions within the business. You will support the business and take responsibility for the end-to-end commercial process for all projects; further enhance the businesses commercial strength and margins by improving commercial reporting accuracy, cash flow, reducing risk in change control and WIP.

Key responsibilities of their Quantity Surveyor:

- Commercial reporting including forecasting
- Work alongside operational team to produce accurate CVRs
- Assisting in estimating and procurement
- Manage client interface
- Risk management including change control and WIP management
- Contract Administration
- Aid in subcontract procurement, ensuring best value for money and lowest risk achieved at all times
- Payment and debt management
- Scheme closures and feedback loop to T & E team
- Attend internal and external (Client) meetings
- Final account compilation / submission

What they're looking for in their Quantity Surveyor:

- HNC or above in Quantity Surveying or equivalent is essential
- Experience in the construction industry is essential
- Experience with scheme finance and commercial management is essential
- Ability to understand and respond to contract issues
- MRICS or MCIOB is desirable
- Experience in the utility construction industry with a complete understanding of gas, water and electric distribution infrastructures is desirable
