SOFTWARE ENGINEER - PLC Software Engineer - Near Glasgow- (DOE)

At Teknek we design, develop and manufacture the world's leading contact cleaning machines that ensure products ranging from currency to passports and smart phones to space shuttles can be manufactured reliably, without waste across the planet.

Based in Scotland with offices in China, US and Japan we are a UK company with massive global impact.

Our machines combine automated motion control; machine and environment sensing; data collection and analysis, all controlled by an onboard PLC via a touch screen display and networked into smart factory control systems. Control software is the glue that holds everything together and you are the person who will define and deliver it.

Role:

We are looking for an experienced PLC Engineer with PLC and HMI experience to develop machine control automation within our Development team. This is a challenging but hugely rewarding role, where you will see your work realized and deployed quickly into the market.

Alternatively, if you are a recent graduate who think you might know how to do this, we would be interested to hear from you.

This role requires you to be able to deliver the following:

PLC programming

2- way communication within smart factory/Industry 4.0 environments

Programming HMIs using Android Studio or equivalent.

Creating, Scripting, and running test programs to ensure machine software is functioning properly.

Liaising with all external suppliers and contractors related to automation control software development.

Creating and maintaining a growing library of machine and UI code that is transferable across our various machines.

Based in our modern offices in Glasgow, Renfrewshire with occasional travel abroad to China, Europe etc.

Experience/Background:

Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunication/Computer Engineering/Software Development or equivalent.

Given the scope of this role, you may have strong programming experience in several areas but need to learn others to cover the range. Either way you will be curious and hungry to learn more to fill any gaps in your knowledge and experience.

You may have previously worked as a PLC Software Engineer, Automation Control Engineer, Machine System Control Developer within industrial automation sectors such as Food & Drink production; Oil & Gas; Manufacturing; HVAC. Or you may have programmed PLCs for standalone products/machines.

Ideally you will have some experience of industrial automation using PLC control with many examples of work that demonstrate how you have tackled similar challenges we will need to overcome in the future. This is a hands-on development role, not a management role.

You will be driven, curious, collaborative, inventive and tenacious to get the job done and work within a tight knit Development team.

- Or alternatively you don't have the direct experience but are convinced you can deliver in this role.
