As an Authorising Engineer & Gas Manager (Trainee), you will be responsible for implementing, managing, and adhering to the safe systems of work for various processes and procedures across a large portfolio of military buildings. These include mechanical, electrical, confined spaces, petroleum, restricted high places, water and gas processes and procedures. You will also provide practical and technical support to the wider business, the Estate Technical Services, the Garrison Management Teams, the clients, and the customers.

Your responsibilities will also include training, mentoring, and supporting appointed persons and others to achieve the required standards and best practice compliance management. You will also carry out discipline audits, coordinate and maintain gas registration, manage, and control complex gas issues, draft technical reports, lead accident or operational incident investigations, and assist in developing and delivering training to raise the engineering technical standards of the business.

To be successful in this role, you should be a person of sound technical ability and experience, with good supervisory and management skills. You will have good judgement and foresight and be able to solve problems and display initiative. You will be able to carry out your duties with drive, determination and decisiveness, and work under pressure. You will also have a high standard of communication and liaison skills and be able to interact with internal and external parties. You will have a pleasant outgoing personality, showing interest and enthusiasm for the tasks at hand.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering background.
  • Chartered/Incorporated engineer or working toward this accreditation.
  • Gas ACS commercial.
  • Experienced Authorised Person.
  • Sound legislation and safety knowledge, including risk assessment training.
  • Legionella requirements, management and control.
  • H&S certificates.
