Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Inspector on 3 months contract initially with a possibility of further extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, monitor, and ensure the quality and compliance of mechanical installations, including:
- Heating systems upgrades.
- Heat interface units (HIUs).
- Heat metering systems.
- Gas boiler replacements.
- Low carbon solutions such as heat pumps and related technologies.
- Verify that all work aligns with technical specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Liaise with contractors, engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless delivery of projects within the agreed timeframe and budget.
- Identify and report defects, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
- Conduct regular site visits and prepare detailed inspection reports.
- Support the integration of innovative, sustainable technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
Key Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven experience in mechanical inspections within a capital works or retrofit programme.
- Strong knowledge of heating systems, including gas boilers, HIUs, and heat pumps.
- Familiarity with low-carbon technologies and sustainable building practices.
- Excellent understanding of compliance standards, building regulations, and health & safety requirements.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Desirable:
- Experience with heat metering systems.
- Knowledge of renewable energy solutions and emerging low-carbon technologies.
Must hold a Commercial Gas Certificate
