20 x 5G, 6G & 6GR FCAW Coded Welders Needed for Major Project in Devon Flux Core
Position: FCAW Coded Welder (x20)
Contract Type: CIS
Contract Length: Long term programme, estimated 6-8 years overall

Rate: £29.00 £43.50 per hour
Accommodation and Travel allowance: £401.67 per week
We require experienced Flux Core Welders who can work to high standards. You must hold a welding code (ISO 9606) for FCAW ideally with Lloyd s or similar class approval and be comfortable welding in all positions (5G/6G). You should be able to read drawings and follow welding procedures.
A trade test will be required as part of the selection (weld test details TBC). BPSS security clearance will be conducted, so you ll need a valid right to work and a generally clean background.
Pay rate:
Days
£2,366.42 to £2,616.55 per week (58.5 to 64.25 paid hours, depending on OT)
- Includes lodge (£355.67 per week) and travel (£46.00 per week) allowances
- Day core rate: £29.00 per hour CIS for the first 40 hours per week
- Day overtime rate: £43.50 per hour CIS (paid after 40 hours, 1.5x day rate)
Nights
£2,749.22 to £2,999.35 per week (58.5 to 64.25 paid hours, depending on OT)
- Includes lodge (£355.67 per week) and travel (£46.00 per week) allowances
- Night core rate: £38.57 per hour CIS for the first 40 hours per week (1.33x day rate)
- Night overtime rate: £43.50 per hour CIS (paid after 40 hours, OT is paid at the day overtime rate)
Hours:
58.5 to 64.25 hrs per week(inclusive of travel and accomdation allowance)

Certifications and coding:
- FCAW coding to ISO 9606
- Lloyd s Register or similar class approval is beneficial but not essential
- Valid CSCS Card or CCNSG Safety Passport
Experience and capability:
- Experience in heavy engineering
- Welding steel to acceptable tolerances
- Assisting to create steel frames and unit builds as well as supporting refit and repair operations.
- Understand and have the ability to work from Engineering drawings
- Ensure the proper handling of machines, product and tooling at all times.
- At the end of each shift ensure shut down off all welding equipment and gas connection.
- Responsible for reporting any faults or damage to the machine and its tooling to Management.
- Produce vertical and overhead welds to required standards.
- To be able to weld and fabricate to a high standard with an eye for detail. Mainly flux core and Solid Mig
- Experience with overhead cranes and lifting equipment
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
Clearance and eligibility:
- Weld test required as part of selection (details TBC)
- BPSS clearance check to be conducted
- Right to work in the UK required
Project timeline:
The programme is expected to run for around 6 to 8 years, with the first intake starting March 2026 and a second intake planned for June 2026.
