Role: Quantity Surveyor (Assistant)
Contract Length: 6 months - potential extension
Location: Gosport (Base locations) - travel will be required across UK, once a week on site as required - EXPENSES AVAILABLE FOR TRAVEL - remainder from home
Security Clearance: SC - Live & Active from day 1


Minimum Requirement:
Supporting other QS workload
Working on multiple small contracts
One on large projects
NEC 3/4 experience
Pre-tender experience
Mechanical background
Assistant QS
Chartered QS

Not interested in:
Oil and gas

Provide support to the Procurement Team to ensure the delivery of predominantly engineering works to assure OPA is being billed fairly for works actually completed.
Assist with managing all costs relating to projects to ensure validity and value for money.
Support the OPA in preparing supporting documentation for projects including ITT, T&C's, and cost estimates.
Support Project Teams that tenders are issued in accordance with the Agency's procurement policy and procedures.
Work closely with the Procurement department to ensure that contracts are put in place that are the most suitable to ensure delivery of the requirement in a timely & cost-effective manner.
Assist with monitoring and where necessary measure the services provided by the contractor to verify application for payment.
Assist with monitoring Contractors to ensure compliance with the Contract.
Assist with monitoring, maintaining and re-negotiating schedules of Rates.
Assist with the review ofBills of Quantities.
Assist with monitoring delivery of the service to ensure that costs are in line with forecasts.
Assist with the valuation of the application for payments and preparation of the payment certificates.
Assist with the validation of claims for change of work scope and agreed new value.
Assist with reviewing and validating Contractor estimates.
Assist with the preparation of in-house estimates, deriving costs, valuation of variation orders, and analysis of tender submissions.
Support the Project Engineers in the management of contracts.
Assist with cost analysis of works or services.
Assisting in establishing user requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
Assist with performing risk and value management and cost control.
Assist with identifying, analysing, and developing responses to risks.
Assist with the valuation of completed work and benchmarking with industry.
Ensure activities are in accordance with the Agency's accounting procedures.
Assist with monitoring all project costs to ensure that projects are delivered within budget; ensure that correct authorisation is obtained before expenditure exceeds the approved budget.
Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of assets, equipment, and materials for which the role has responsibility.
