We are currently looking to engage an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to support a well-established civil engineering contractor with an annual turnover of circa 150m, delivering a strong pipeline of projects across the South East.
This is a long-term freelance opportunity operating outside IR35, ideal for a capable engineer confident across infrastructure and groundwork packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out precise setting out using Leica TS16 total station and associated survey equipment
- Managing and overseeing works including:
- Drainage (foul, surface water, attenuation, deep drainage)
- Utilities installation and coordination (water, gas, electric, telecoms)
- Modular building groundwork and installation interfaces
- Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and QA procedures
- Producing as-built surveys and maintaining accurate site records
- Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, and design engineers
- Supporting and promoting safe systems of work on site
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering environments
- Strong technical knowledge of drainage and utilities infrastructure
- Experience working alongside or coordinating modular/off-site construction packages beneficial
- Proficient in the use of Leica TS16
- Valid CSCS card
- EUSR CAT & Genny certification (essential)
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications with a high level of accuracy

- Engagement: Freelance / Contract

- Duration: Ongoing, with secured workload
- Rate: Competitive, DOE
