This Role Will Encompass:

Our air quality service line (currently a team of 4) sits within the Environmental Assessment & Management (EA&M) Discipline, at the heart of Buro Happold's environmental consultancy. This role will take forward the leadership of the company's air quality consultancy offer.
If you join, you would be one of the senior leaders within the EA&M business, and as such you will have a network of support around you, including from the Discipline Director and other service line leaders - who work collaboratively regarding work winning, operations and project delivery.

There will be an opportunity to grow the technical capability and capacity of the service line within the company to a size that is appropriate for the importance of air quality as a global issue alongside climate change and the biodiversity crisis.
Our air quality service line has a strong track record of working on some of the largest urban regeneration development projects in the UK, including the likes of Thameside West (5,000 new homes in London), Fulham Gasworks (2,000 new homes in London) and Mayfield (Manchester). There are additionally growing opportunities to be involved in large scale international projects, including in the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe.

We Are Looking For:

We would expect that you can demonstrate:
• A track record of leading air quality projects in the UK (whilst not essential, international experience would be looked on favourably)
• A track record of leading and delivering multiple solutions to air quality challenges, being able to articulate the benefits and shortfalls of each to the client, taking into consideration other disciplines requirements within these solutions.
• Development of air quality service offer in regard to technical quality/capacity, service offers and business development;
• Previous line management and mentoring experience
• Technical leadership for the air quality service line, including having final responsibility for the sign off of work;
• Knowledge of the planning system and of the role and responsibilities of local authorities to seek to improve air quality in their local communities;
• Experience in coaching and mentoring junior staff to develop their own technical skills;
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• The ability to take the lead in challenging situations in a confident and proactive manner
• Excellent knowledge of project and business financial and management systems
• Experience of air quality modelling software and GIS
• Membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. IAQM/IES).
