As a result of year-on-year success within the company and continued business growth, exciting opportunities have arisen to join our team of 30+ drug metabolism scientists. We are responsible for delivering high quality metabolic stability, enzyme inhibition, enzyme kinetics and enzyme induction data to our clients, supporting projects from early discovery right through to clinical development. As a member of the team, you will develop in depth technical expertise across all these areas and understand how this data is utilised to support drug discovery and inform clinical development.

Role as our Associate Scientist

As an Associate Scientist, you will be primarily laboratory-based, working as part of our dynamic and adaptable Physical Chemistry team which supports one another through mentoring and coaching. The team consists of people with varying levels of experience and areas of expertise, and we work with clients ranging from small academic groups to large international pharmaceutical. Cyprotex will support you with relevant training, to enable you to build a successful career within our organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • To prepare, monitor and maintain compounds, stock solutions, buffers, and any other assay related materials
  • To be responsible for the validation, routine maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment to support assay execution and/or sample analysis as required.
  • To support the execution of assigned routine and bespoke assays.
  • To assist in data analysis and interpretation.
  • To ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean and in proper working order on completion of assigned tasks.
  • To ensure that all errors and erroneous results are reported to your supervisor with minimal delay.
  • To ensure accurate and complete documentation of all activities as required by relevant SOPs and Quality policies.
  • To assist on the supervision and mentoring of trainees and other support staff when required.
  • To participate in initiatives to improve group processes and make efficiency gains in assays.
  • To ensure work is performed to an exceptionally high standard, within specified time frames, ensuring safety regulations and QC procedures are strictly adhered to.

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of general laboratory processes.
  • BSc/MSc, or higher, in Chemistry, Drug Metabolism or a related field, or at least 2 years' experience working within a related laboratory environment.
  • Strong communication and time-management skills to organise and deliver high-quality data in a fast-paced environment.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.

  • Pension on completion (but not subject to) of your 3-month probationary period. Contributions 5% for employees (salary sacrifice) and 5% for the employer. The employee can opt to increase their contribution and the employer will match the increase up to a maximum of 7.5%.
