Here at Blueprint recruitment, we have a brilliant opportunity for a motivated graduate to join a global Design and Solutions Company, on a permanent basis. This position requires presence at the Southampton site to contribute to the processing of hazardous waste. This exciting opportunity provides the successful Chemist with the chance to collaborate with experienced, Engineers, Consultants and other Chemists. Our client operates in a variety of sectors, including Water, Pharmaceutical, Oil and gas, Transport, Defence and Chemical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all materials, including containerised materials entering the site for storage or transfer are inspected, recorded and monitored through to final dispatch in accordance with site procedures and the working plan
- Work with the Transfer Manager and Operations Manager regarding stock levels, inputs to the site and dispatches from the site
- Ensure packaged waste is processed efficiently
- Sample and analyse all materials destined for on-site treatment performing compatibility testing and the generation of written instructions for site personnel
- Perform daily inspections of the transfer area, highlight and report potential breaches of permit or safe working conditions
- Liaising with site management to ensure that site personnel, contractors and visitors comply with the site rules
Key Requirements:
- Degree in chemistry or a relevant subject
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work as part of a team and upon their own initiative
- An ability to overcome problems and find solutions independently
- Enthusiastic and willing to learn
