The Contracts Engineer role is responsible for overseeing all capital works and other assigned projects within the Public Works Department.

  • Fixed Term Contract, up to 4 years
  • £43,646 up to £50,084 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) rising to £59,034.

The Role

The role will involve assisting the Director of Public Works with the management of a variety of capital infrastructure projects, such as utilities improvements, land development projects, road and drainage upgrades and housing construction. The department seeks continuous improvement initiatives and the provision of management systems, processes and structures in line with corporate policies.

The Person

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a variety of contracted works in the Falkland Islands. They will be leading the management of contracted projects delivered in a variety of ways, including partnering.

Candidates should hold a recognised civil engineering degree, or similar, and have a minimum of 5 years post-graduation experience in a similar post, preferably including project development and CAD.

The individual best suited to this role should have good contractual awareness, and a good knowledge of contract forms including NEC, FIDIC and JCT. They must also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and hold a valid driving licence.

The Package

  • FTC up to 4 years.
  • £26,997 - £31,120 or £33,435 - £38,548 per annum depending on qualifications and experience
  • Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity (taxable).
  • 41 days paid leave, 30 days paid annual leave plus 11 government and public holidays.
  • Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.
