Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience Required: Minimum 5 years' control systems designer experience; ideally degreed or through a time-served apprenticeship.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in designs for hazardous area installations; CompEX EX01-EX04 or EX12 modules advantageous.
  • Control Systems: Ideally you will have designed an array of control systems and worked with field equipment including but not limited to: Control Panels, Analysers, Pressure Transmitters and flow metering equipment
  • PLC Knowledge. Basic PLC programming and debugging experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Control Panel Building: The ideal candidate will have built control panels in the past and have demonstrable knowledge of electrical installations complying with BS7671 (18th edition) and will have moved into a design role however this is not essential.
  • Gas analytic and metering systems: Experience in gas analytical and metering systems beneficial

Primary Duties:

  • Design Expertise: Develop clear and concise drawing and document packs; review and enhance existing packs with precision.
  • Calculations: Execute various calculations ensuring accuracy, including cable, I.S Loop, AC/DC load, lighting, and thermal capacity.
  • Guidance & Representation: Mentor Junior EC&I design engineers; confidently represent the company in client-facing scenarios.
  • Collaborative Approach: Collaborate closely with site-based and commissioning engineers, contributing to holistic project perspectives.

Secondary Duties:

  • Process Enhancement: Identify process gaps and contribute suggestions for improvement.
  • Commissioning Support: Assist during pre-FAT and FAT phases with EC&I-related issues.

Pay Information

Salary: Up to £40,000 (may be negotiable for the right person)

Working hours: 40 hours per week - flexi

Holiday Pay: 22 days plus bank holidays

Pension Entitlement: 3% employer, 5% employee

Hybrid working: This control systems designer role is predominantly based in their Ellesmere Port based workshop / office with occasional site visits required. Up to 2 days working from home.

Death in service: 2 x annual salary
