An opportunity has arisen for the position of Engineering Assurance Manager in the Network Management Distribution team (Risk Management), reporting to the Network Planning Manager. The base location is St Mary Cray or Edinburgh, but the successful candidate must be willing to travel to carry out site inspections/audits and attend meetings with other business areas or external parties including building owners.
THE ROLE
- Ensuring business compliance with industry standard IGEM/G/5 - Gas in multi occupancy buildings
- Ensuring business compliance with SGN procedures - SGN/PM/RL/1, SGN/PR/RL/2, SGN/PM/REP/3
- Provide assurance of compliant design documentation pre installation
- Provide solutions to engineering or design challenges
- Provide assurance of compliant Network pipework installations on multi occupancy buildings post installation including risers, meter bank installations and complex distribution systems
- Work to improve design processes and documentation
- Monitoring of MOB replacement and refurbishment workloads
- Manage safety concerns with Network assets supplying multi occupancy buildings or any building safety concerns or risks
- Work with Local Authorities, Housing Associations and other building owners to support Building Safety Cases for high rise buildings
- Ensure adequate risk management procedures are in place and adhered to
- Manage survey and risk assessment programmes
- Supporting the wider Network Management team with other tasks when required
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- You must be a qualified Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or working towards this
- Good level of business knowledge and understanding of the gas industry
- Engineering design experience
- Highly motivated with a flexible approach
- Strong people management skills
- Ability to respond and adapt quickly to change; and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to innovate, lead and support new technology, process change and different ways of working
- Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting regular liaison with other departments and stakeholders within SGN or externally
- Thorough knowledge of SGN systems and processes
