We're looking for a Fuel Route Operational Planner to come and join our Operational Planning team on Heysham 2.
The Opportunity
The Fuel Route operational planning function is accountable for the life cycle management of nuclear fuel ensuring fuel route operational programmes are delivered safely to satisfy Station Business targets.
As part of the role, you'll be required to interact with multiple stakeholders both internal and external to the station to ensure fuel route operational programmes are accurate, optimised, challenging and achievable. Therefore, you'll be someone that can work calmly, yet take an enthusiastic approach to your work.
Pay, benefits and culture
We can offer a competitive salary ranging from £40,069 to £84,892 and you'll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Nuclear Generation Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time position; however, we will be happy to discuss options regarding part time flexibility and job share if you would like to highlight this on your application.

What you'll be doing
Working with Reactor Physics Engineers to manage lifetime planning of the use of fuel, you'll be:
- Co-ordinating and managing the purchase of nuclear fuel and associated components.
- Development and ownership of short term and long-term operational programmes
- Co-ordinating and delivering refuelling and statutory outage programmes from a fuel route perspective.
- Managing the process for preparing flask packages for transport from site
- Accountable for upkeep of records to satisfy local, national and international obligations including Nuclear Safeguards
- Developing and delivering lifetime strategies to enable efficient and robust operations to support the station when moving from an operational mode into defueling and beyond.
Who you are.
Ideally, you'll have an HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
Knowledge of Heysham 2's operating process is desirable and to have some industrial or project management experience with Nuclear or another highly regulated industry is key to being successful in this role.
You'll have experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Operations, Maintenance, Safety Cases or Engineering.
As the Fuel Route Operational Planner, you'll have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to manage, work within and influence cross functional working groups encouraging a team ethos to help deliver effective work programmes.
In time the applicant may be expected to undertake a leadership position accountable for work
