Title: Global Eco Sustainability Lead
Location: UK, EU. Hybrid with travel
Contract: Permanent/Full-time
The Role
As the Global Eco Sustainability Leader you will lead our strategy to embed in our Journey to Excellence understanding and control of our eco improvement opportunities and ensure minimization of the company's environmental footprint.
What you'll be doing
You will work directly with all sites to support local environmental and sustainability programs, best practices and targets in order to reduce the environmental impacts. The GESL will all work with our communications teams to promote and celebrate our good environmental story that underpins our purpose. Finally, you will ensure progression to our public Company eco targets for greenhouse gas, water use, and waste reduction, working closely with our engineering teams to implement major energy and water capital projects and our procurement teams to ensure beneficial use solutions for our waste.
Footprint Minimization
- Set Company eco targets based on Company ambition (market considerations), risks (footprint, changing law, spend), and opportunities (efficiency, ESG gaps)
- With operations, engineering, energy, and sustainability teams, develop and manage action plans to reach targets
- Support sites to develop smart annual targets based on the eco threats & opportunities in their Risk Registers and aligned to Company targets
- Measure & report Company performance against public Company eco targets
- Ensure proper and current emission and conversion factors applied to calculate eco performance
- Manage eco performance program in line with EHS Criteria document
- Verify accuracy of site-reported metrics through training and regular audit
- Orchestrate annual 3rd party review of published eco performance data
- Improve objective excellence of environmental program through accurate and complete ESG reporting and gap assessment-based program improvements
Awareness and Control Improvement
- Develop, implement, and measure performance of internal eco KPIs for air, water and waste
- Develop and implement trainings in order to reduce our environmental impact and footprint and ensure the environmental understanding on the Journey to Excellence.
- Provide training and support development of internal KPI monitoring
- Serve as water sustainability subject matter expert
- Ensure site Risk Registers incorporate eco threats and opportunities
- Promote best practices for eco control
Engagement
- Promote environmental best practices both internally and externally with Communication teams
- Lead Earth Day planning and environmental theme of EHSQS Week
- Develop environmental stories for designated environmental days and themes
- Support local eco teams to identify opportunities for improved control and footprint reduction
Regional Support
- Support regional J2E efforts including Tollgate and compliance assessments in all region
What you'll have
- Degree(s) in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or other related field and/or substantial experience in a corporate environmental engineering role spanning multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience demonstrating measurable results in continuous improvement of environmental compliance.
- Ability to communicate and train on the applicability of environmental legal requirements to all levels of global manufacturing.
- Experience with ISO 14001 management system.
- Experience using EHS Digital tools (e.g., Gensuite, Entropy, SAP).
- Analytical, project management, organizational and communication skills, both oral and written, generating effective presentation of global results and/or analytical findings.
- Ability to travel up to 30%
