Head of Construction

Leadership and management of the Company Construction team across the full lifecycle of our portfolio of construction projects which encompass a wide range of customers and different procurement routes.

This role will be a member of the Senior Management Team and will interact with the Leadership Team and ensure the continuing success of the Company now and into the future. This role is an essential part of our strategy and forms a key part of ensuring the Company meets and exceeds customer expectations at all stages of project delivery.

The role is essential in identifying and managing construction risks and in ensuring the satisfactory commercial performance of our projects during the delivery phase and in gaining the confidence and trust of our customers, suppliers and sub-contractors and ensuring our staff find this to be a professional, enjoyable, and rewarding place to work.

The successful candidate will do this through:
  • Allocation and management of construction resource to meet project workloads requirements.
  • Ensuring high standards of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance during all construction stages.
  • Ensuring quality assurance in construction is achieved and to the company standards.
  • Undertaking and/or managing audits for compliance with SHE, QA standards and compliance with other company standards
  • Ensuring contractual requirements are achieved and site management teams are capable and motivated to meet those requirements.
  • Ensuring the Customer is kept informed of progress and addresses any issues or matters of concern.
  • Dealing with Sub-contractor/supplier vetting, pre-selection and arbitrating disputes
  • Delivering a Construction based summary report monthly to the SMT.
  • Company authority on Principle Contractor duties under CDM
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, 18001 and 45001

Key Tasks
â Departmental management (resources, delivery, budgeting, reporting)
â Audit and compliance checks (SHE, QA, Other) and production of reports/assessments
â Monthly construction status report production and presentation
â Own and manage commercial delivery and reporting from sites, highlight exceptions/risks
â Competency and people development planning/management
â Planning input to tenders and estimates
â Interface with internal departments and take lead where required
â Ownership of construction elements of the Company Integrated Management System
â Ensure data reported from sites is correct and accurate
â Check and challenge construction methodologies to ensure they are safe and effective
â Prepare and manage manhour estimates and delivery
â Provide support to customers on Industrial Relations matters
