We are delighted to be able to offer this vacancy with our client based in Seaham, County Durham. We are looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join a small existing team of engineers and technicians. This role will be Working in the workshop, carrying out both assembly and testing of equipment. Individuals must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
This vacancy is for 6 months with the possibility of leading to permanent.
Hours of work would be 08.30am-05.00pm or 07.30am-04.00pm Monday-Thursday, Friday is 08.30am-04.00pm or 07.30am-03.00pm start times are flexible either times can be accommodated.
Primary duties include:
• Assembly of actuated packages along with mechanical aspects of valves/actuators and controls
• Required to interpret and follow the instructions shown on engineering instructions, drawings and instrument diagrams
• Prepare and maintain the documentation to support the functionality, testing and standards required to complete the work
• Follow company safety policies and procedures
• Maintain a neat and organised work area
• Additional duties and occasional work on other UK sites or customer job sites may be necessary
• The scope of these tasks, dependent upon training, can range from receiving inspections, wiring, mechanical and pressure tests, kitting product for builds, packing for delivery and loading of finished items
Experience
Any combination of requirements, which provide knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities, will be considered.
• The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of sound engineering practices and be experience in working to close tolerances & be conversant with a variety of measuring equipment
• An excellent understanding of engineering drawings and good knowledge of valves, actuators and instrumentation
• Have experience or understanding of valve pressure testing standards and testing practices
• Capable of working with Smart instrument software and configuration tools
• Mechanical or E&I engineering qualification
• 3 years' experience in mechanical automation
• Previous experience working in the oil and gas industry is desirable
• Advantageous to be trained in the use of overhead/swing arm cranes and experienced in the use of fork lift trucks
• Appreciation for the proper use of hand and power tools
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
