JB258 - Operations Director - Fire Detection & Gas / Water Suppression Location: GillinghamSalary: £60,000-£65,000 + BonusOverview:First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Operations Director on behalf of one of our clients. You will play a crucial role in managing and enhancing the operational capabilities of the company.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire a skilled operations team, fostering a culture of safety, quality and innovation.
- Oversee the planning and execution of projects related to fire detection and gas / water suppression.
- Ensure the efficient coordination of installation, maintenance and service activities.
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement strategic plans that align with business objectives and market trends.
- Stay abreast of advancements in fire detection and suppression technologies, providing strategic insights for future business development.
- Implement and maintain stringent quality control processes to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of fire safety solutions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and safety protocols.
- Manage the operational budget, identifying opportunities for cost efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
- Monitor financial metrics to assess financial health.
- Oversee successful execution of fire detection and suppression projects, ensuring timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline project workflows and improve overall project management processes.
- Use a proactive approach towards growth.
- Attend senior management meetings to present new and forward thinking strategies for the development of the business.
- Provide guidance, mentoring and support to team members.
- Manage individual and team performance through reviews and appraisals.
- Oversee resource allocation, including budget management. Ensure resources are utilised effectively.
- Implement efficiency measures and maximise the financial return for the company.
- Ensure the day to day operations of the engineering service team, senior engineers are managed in a commercially effective manner.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain high standards of product or service delivery.
- Maintain service processes under the companies ISO procedures.
- Ensure that all current legislation is strictly adhered to.
- Ensure that the department regularly provides audits of sites, engineering quality and successful job completion.
- Use data driven insights to make informed decisions, track KPI's and identify areas of improvement.
- Assist with client visits when required and prepare reports in requested format.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Mechanical qualification would be useful or fire protection, or a related field.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in operations management ideally within the fire detection and suppression industry.
- Familiarity with industry regulations, standards and certifications.
- Good level of computer literacy.
- Excellent level of numeracy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- The ability to lead, mentor and motivate a team.
- Organisational skills.
- High level of customer service skills.
