Role: Senior Electronics Engineer OR Electronics Team Leader
Location: Whitstable
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

A new vacancy exists for the role of Electronics Team Leader, to support the Design Office Manager, other Team Leaders and the Design Engineers.
The Electronics Team Leader will report to the Design Office Manager and Senior Management Team. This role may involve developing management and leadership skills whilst still allowing for design skills to be developed if necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ownership of internal team planning spreadsheets and tasks lists.
- Responsible for regular progress reporting and metrics reporting.
- Responsible for arranging and leading regular team update meetings.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Identifying opportunities for staff training.
- Identifying risks and mitigation to ensure products can be supported.
- Conducting detailed reviews of customer requirements and advising the Design Office Manager on the feasibility and risks associated with potential or actual contracts or orders.
- Responsible for ensuring all design and development activities are carried out in accordance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
- Responsibility for detailed review and approval of design documents and drawings.
- Some management of sub-contracted design and development activities such as qualification testing and printed circuit board layout.
- Representing the engineering team and design related meetings and discussions with customers, including travel to customers' facilities in the UK and overseas.
- Actively promote a continuous improvement culture and drive design team to develop market leading, reliable and airworthy products.
- Assist the design and development aspects of new products and changes to existing products.
- Some HR responsibility as required.
Essential Requirements:
- Quick learning to understand existing products.
- A good understanding of a full design life cycle.
- Ability to manage own time and priorities.
- Ability to analyse the work of design team members to ensure compliance with relevant internal and external requirements.
- Proven management and leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additionally, any of the following are ideal.
- Good understanding of the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) Design Approved Organisation Scheme (DAOS).
- Good understanding of EASA Part 21 requirements in particular the interface between Design and Production and the specific requirements of Subpart J (DOA) and Subpart O (Alternative Procedures to DOA).
- Knowledge of the general and design specific requirements of AS9100 Revision D.
