We have an amazing opportunity for a Sustainability Lead to join our Environment and Sustainability team based at Thorpe Park, Leeds on a permanent contract. You will lead the development of the sustainability reporting that we prepare to communicate our performance against our strategic commitments outlined in our People and Planet strategy.
You will lead the continuous improvement of our Environment and Sustainability reporting so it always meets the needs of our stakeholders, is compliant with prevailing requirements and best practice.This is a new role within our Regulation and Strategy Directorate, and you will be supporting to the Head of Environment and Sustainability.
Your key accountabilities and responsibilities will include• Managing the end-to-end completion of all NGN sustainability reporting requirements to ensure compliance, consistency, quality and timeliness of submissions. This will include taking a primary author role in significant elements of the reporting, whilst also coordinating the completion of elements prepared by NGN colleagues.• Managing incoming data streams to ensure NGN can comply with reporting requirements and work with our colleagues, partners and supply chain to continuously improve the scope and quality of our reporting.• Keeping abreast of new developments in sustainability reporting practices/standards and implementing these to enhance NGN reporting quality, including developing new reporting metrics and associated dataflows where appropriate.• Leading NGN stakeholder engagement with respect to sustainability reporting submissions to assess level of reporting performance and stakeholder satisfaction, and benchmarking our reporting and rating performance against peers and third parties.• Leading the development of strategies and action plans to improve sustainability reporting with respect to streamlining the reporting process (time and resource requirements) and improving NGN ratings and stakeholder satisfaction.• Managing the development, preparation and communication of NGN's People and Planet Strategy performance dashboard for communication of performance with our shareholders, senior business leaders and wider colleagues.
What we are looking for• An excellent communicator who can bring sustainability information to life so our stakeholders can easily understand our performance and activities.• Experience of leading the preparation of comprehensive written reports to publicly communicate our sustainability strategy, performance and activities, including coordination of multiple data providers.• Experience of communicating sustainability performance via non-written media, including infographics and in-person and pre-recorded presentations.• Knowledge of sustainability reporting methodologies, standards, metrics and data quality requirements, in particular Greenhouse Gas Protocol, TCFD, SECR, GRI and ISSB.• Experience of sustainability data management and analysis - including extraction, manipulation, analysis and effective presentation of quantitative data (eg carbon emissions or waste data) utilising tools including MS Excel, MS Sharepoint and online data platforms;• Understanding of the effective development and communication of sustainability KPIs/metrics.
