Job Title: Telecoms/SCADA Engineer
Location: The position will primarily be based offshore on a 2-week Rotation
Salary: Up to 700 Per Day via PAYE/Umbrella
Contract Length: Initially 6 months
We are seeking a dedicated Offshore Telecoms Troubleshooter to join our clients team. The role involves providing technical support and troubleshooting for telecoms and SCADA systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of telecommunications technology and excellent problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot telecoms and SCADA systems, ensuring optimal performance and functionality.
- Provide daily progress reports, documenting activities and any encountered issues.
- Participate in meetings with project stakeholders to discuss progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Review and provide feedback on contractor documentation such as Work Method Statements (WMS), Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and Inspection and Test Reports (ITRs).
- Plan and manage telecom/SCADA-related punches or remediation works.
- Oversee contractors' telecom/SCADA commissioning activities, including witnessing and monitoring the process.
- Interface with commissioning teams and the IT department to ensure seamless integration and operation of telecom systems.
- Manage spare parts inventory, including network switches and fiber optic patch leads.
- Serve as the point of contact for on-field assistance in the installation of temporary LTE in towers.
- Provide in-field assistance to the IT team for the configuration of network switches and troubleshooting.
- Conduct signal testing during the energization of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS).
- Assist in the installation and integration of TETRA base stations.
- Conduct pre-configuration of network switches in nacelles, both onshore and offshore.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and maintaining telecoms and SCADA systems.
- Familiarity with contractor documentation and project management processes.
- Strong technical skills in telecom technologies, including LTE, fiber optics, and network switches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work offshore and participate in offshore rotations as required.
- Proficiency in signal testing equipment and telecom testing methodologies.
- Experience with TETRA base station installation and integration is a plus.
